The Celtic deity Belenus, God of light, the sun & fire is honoured during the Beltane festival. Ancient Romans, particularly in the Northern Italy, also embraced this sacred time & believed him to be Apollo as both Belenus & Apollo represent healing & rejuvenation through the power of the sun as well as protection & vitality.
Belenus’ name means “Bright One” in Ancient Celtic.
During Beltane, the Ancient Celts & modern pagans burn large fires to usher in the sun & summer’s energy to the earth.
